Strange Town to host Spooky Night of Shows on KLRU

This Halloween Night on KLRU-Q, starting just before 8pm Billy and Mark will be your hosts’ guiding you through this night of spooky shows, leading up to their spookiest episode of Strange Town at 11:30pm. Birth Of The Living Dead at 7:59 pm In 1968 George A. Romero directed Night of the Living Dead, a low budget horror film that shocked the world, became an icon of the counterculture, and spawned a zombie industry worth billions of dollars that continues to this day. Birth of the Living Dead shows how Romero gathered an unlikely team of Pittsburghers to shoot a revolutionary guerrilla-style film that went on to become a cinematic landmark, offering a profound insight into how our society worked in a singular time in American history. Secrets of the Dead Vampire Legend at 8:55 pm Follow scientists as they uncover “deviant” burials dating back to medieval England, pointing to a belief that the dead could rise from their graves. Predating Eastern European legend, these discoveries force a re-examination of modern vampire lore. Frankenstein & The Vampyre at 9:55 pm A fascinating exploration of one of the most significant moments in gothic history – the night when Mary Shelley, Lord Byron and their cohorts gathered together at Lake Geneva to tell ghost stories and the night when Frankenstein and the modern vampire were born. Haunted Texas: Peyton Colony at 10:50 pm A half hour visual exploration into the history of Peyton Colony, Texas in the Texas Hill Country. Going back in time the program introduces you to the people and places that existed in Peyton Colony also known as Freedman’s Colony, a settlement established by former slaves after the Civil war. Strange Town  Bridge To The Other Side at 11:20 pm Legend goes that a man was hung from the Moore’s Crossing bridge in Austin, TX. It is said that at Midnight you can see him hanging from the highest crossbeam, with the woman he loved watching from below. Strange Town visited the bridge and stayed late into the night to see for themselves whether or not this long standing tale holds any truth. Strange Town Old Yoakum Hospital at 11:29 pm Once a thriving hospital to the city of Yoakum, it now sits abandoned for the last two decades. Stories have surfaced of a mysterious blue nun and dark shadows appearing down hallways along with children spirits running within the walls of this building. Wait until you see what energies Mark and Billy of Strange Town encounter! HOW TO WATCH: Over the air: 18.3 Grande: 284 Spectrum: 20 and 1268 Google: 77 Suddenlink: 143
